About RVing Outpost LLC

It all started with a tow package. In November, 2001, Julie purchased a new truck. It was a beauty - a 2001 Chevy 1500 Extended Cab with a tow package. Thinking about it, she approached Greg and stated "Greg, we have a tow package, we should buy a camper!" Having camped all her life as a child and having visited 48 states by the time she was 18, she knew the fun they could have as a family with their own camper. It took a little bit of coaxing and help from some friends, but Greg was finally convinced that we needed to buy a camper. We bought a 2002 Sportsman 2505QSS, which could easily be towed by the half ton truck.

The first big trip was to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. What a wonderful experience that was for everyone! The kids fought less on that trip than they do on when we're heading over to Wal-Mart! We were definitely hooked!

As with most folks, we decided we wanted more power and the half ton was soon traded in for a 2003 Chevy 2500HD Duramax/Allison Crew Cab. Now THAT's a truck! We knew we wanted a 5th wheel at some point and trading in trucks every year was getting expensive, so this time we decided to get a truck big enough to pull a 5th wheel, just in case. A trip with the new truck to Washington, D.C. to visit internet friends and family included the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Later that year, we spent a very rainy weekend with friends camping near the Wisconsin Dells. As there were five of us and our dog in the small camper for most of the weekend, we realized we needed something bigger! Along came our Custom 2004 Cedar Creek BHBS shown on the left. We are absolutely thrilled with our Cedar Creek and believe the custom paint to match Julie's truck is fantastic!

In July, 2004, Greg landed a new job at a company in Abbotsford, Wisconsin. We packed up the family and moved 250 miles to the "middle of nowhere." It was a great move and something we've always wanted to do. Julie's father is from Wausau, Wisconsin (about 35 miles west of Abbotsford) and her parents retired "up north" 15 years ago. Julie has lots of relatives in the area and has been visiting the area since she was a child. All in all, it was a good move for us to make.

Unfortunately, in January, Greg came down with pneumonia and was off work for a week. When he returned to work, his employer terminated him! Greg was actually relieved, as the job was not as it was presented. But, what were we to do? I was temping at the time, and had no permanent jobs on the horizon. We talked and prayed about our circumstances and tried to discover God's reasons for moving our family 250 miles from our home and steady, good paying jobs. Neither of us wanted to work for someone else any more, and we both wanted to find something that we could do to help the community. What could we do? What kind of business or store could we open here in the middle of nowhere?

When Julie was driving home from her temping job late in January, she came upon the idea of opening an RV parts, supplies and accessories store, similar to Camping World. Sounds crazy, but when she mentioned it to Greg, he was as excited as she. What could be better, than combining our love of RVing with a way to earn an income for our family!

How do you go about opening a retail store when you've never done anything like that before? We researched the internet and found the Indianhead Community Action Agency in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. The Business Development program was wonderful! Jan Peterson is our mentor and helped us prepare our Business Plan and answered all of our questions. Julie spent many hours on the computer doing research, contacting agencies for research information and writing. Twenty Six pages, two months and many, many hours later, it was done!

We hope that we will be able to help other RVers enjoy themselves on the road by providing them with the personal service they deserve along with quality products needed by every RVer and not easily found at your local Wal-Mart.

When you contact the RVing Outpost, you will be greeted by a member of the Miklaszewicz Family. We value our family and friends and it is our desire to make your visit to our store a pleasant, personal experience.

Our family is always at your service to help your family enjoy your travels!
